Hope Harbor A Novel Irene Hannon 9780800724528 Books

I was drawn into "Hope Harbor" by Irene Hannon and had a hard time putting it down. I enjoyed the characters and seeing them grown and change. This is a Christian romance and the characters only hold hands, hug, and kiss occasionally, but there are secondary characters who have had inappropriate relationships. This is sort of a central theme for growth for some of the characters we meet. It is handled in a discrete way.

I would recommend this book.

I received a free paperback copy of this book from Revell in exchange for my review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

When I fell in love with Nantucket, I never thought I'd ever feel that way about another place. Then I found Hope Harbor. Once again, Hannon creates a place that tugs at your heart, is filled with characters that take you on an amazing journey, a story that you want to delve into as the intricate plots thicken, and a love that you want to embrace as a long-lost friend that you'd share popcorn with anytime. THANKS AGAIN, IRENE, FOR ANOTHER LOVE! Keep more Hope Harbor coming... especially since I need more of the artist fish tacos encouragement and Helping Hands healing inspiration! I absolutely LOVED this book, and couldn't read fast enough. Author Irene Hannon has created very realistic characters who struggle with grief, guilt, and other heavy burdens. Yet as events unfold and lives become intertwined, amazing things begin to happen. Ms. Hannon's style of writing pulled me into the coastal town of Hope Harbor, and I could practically hear the waves crashing on the beach! I laughed, had tears, and sighed at different parts of the story, but never wanted to leave this town. I happily give the book FIVE STARS and cannot wait to read the next book set in Hope Harbor.
Sweet story of two people with different life events that need to be understood and healed. Another great story by Irene Hannon as she builds interactions between Tracy and Michael as well as Michael with the people in the town of Hope Harbor. The story was well written and not syrupy or forced. I can not wait for the next book about Hope Harbor and look forward to meeting some of the townspeople again.
I couldn't stop reading this book! I got the print version and decided to pay the extra few dollars to have it on my app on my phone and had almost finished it by the time the book arrived a few days later. The characters and storyline were so well written and so relatable. Its so enjoyable to read a novel without all the violence and getting to use your imagination on the intimate moments without going into detail by detail, breath by breath. I know when I pick up an Irene Hannon Novel it is going to be good, but she really outdid it this time.
Tracy believes she could have prevented her husband's death. So she throws herself into her accounting business & the family cranberry farm she runs with her Uncle Bud. They're losing money on the farm. The cranberries aren't in much demand as they once were & then their ancient tractor dies. Michael feels such guilt for being a workaholic, always postponing vacations & then his wife died from an aneurism. So, he takes a leave of absence from his job in a non-profit agency & travels across several states for a fresh start to regroup. When he arrives in Hope Harbor Michael finds his reservations are canceled due to a fire. He stumbles upon Charley's Taco Stand for the best fish taco he's ever eaten. Is it coincidence or God's plan that he walks in the path of Tracy riding her bicycle & meeting the town's hermit Anna? Anna comes out of her self imposed antisocial behavior & offers her home's annex to Michael to rent. Anna feels so guilty & responsible for her son John's estrangement of almost two decades. Read how Tracy & Bud's farm gets back in business. See the role Michael plays in Tracy's life. Is it too late for Anna & her son to re-connect? And then there's the sea gull who knocks on Tracy's back door for food! This is a story that made me laugh & cry! I'm looking forward to the second book in this series!
This was not a typical Irene Hannon book. The story line was good - there were several stories intertwined - but it was flat. There was no chemistry between the hero and heron. The relationship between Anna and John was emotional at one point, but they were secondary characters. It was JUST a slow moving, uneventful story. Even the epilogue was just so-so.
I read Sea Rose Lane before reading this one, Hope Harbor by Irene Hannon, and still love it better but this is a wonderful tale! Hope Harbor is the first in this series but is a stand alone novel. If you have read Irene Hannon's mystery/suspense stories, this may not seem as interesting to you as this is primarily a love story. But this story along with Sea Rose Lane is well written. The plot and sub plot are well developed as are the characters and setting. You can "see" Michael, Tracy and even Anna, the town recluse. You can almost taste Charley's fish tacos (fish? really?). I love the way that the author moves the developing love between Michael and Tracy at a believable pace, not the fast, frenetic pace of most romance stories. If you are looking for a romance novel, I recommend this one. I believe that anyone teen through adults of all ages, could enjoy this book.

I listened to the Audible version of this book with Therese Plummer as the narrator. Excellent narration! Excellent narrator!
Surprisingly, for an Irene Hannon novel, this was entirely predictable. I was disappointed in that, after having read a few of her suspense novels. The writing style also seemed rather elementary, which made what could have been a more interesting plot less interesting overall. I felt almost like I was reading a young adult or teen book. There were a few humorous elements, which were quite enjoyable. She is a favorite author of mine, but this one just didn't hold my attention, since I knew basically what was going to happen almost from the beginning.
